IIT Mandi Syllabus General information about the exam
Exam will comprise of two question papers. The first paper will have multiple choice questions (MCQs). The second paper will have questions requiring descriptive answers.
➢ The MCQ based paper will have 100 questions, each carrying 1 mark. Out of these 100 questions, 40 questions are to be expected from syllabus given in Part A and 60 questions from syllabus given in Part B.
➢ The MCQs have negative marking for wrong answers. For a correct answer 1 mark will be awarded while for every wrong answer 0.25 mark will be deducted. The unanswered questions will not be considered for evaluation. (i.e. no marks will be awarded for any question not attempted).
➢ Only one best suited answer is to be given for any MCQ. More than one answer will be treated as wrong answer.
➢ Use of only blue or black ball point pen is permitted to answer the questions and fill the form in exam hall. Use of ink pen/ gel pen/pencil/whitener is not permitted.
➢ Use of calculator, cell phones, log book, periodic table, and any type of electronic device etc., are strictly prohibited.
➢ Darken the circle completely. Please darken only one correct answer. Do not use ‘tick mark’ or other kind of marks.
➢ The second paper will comprise of five questions each of 10 marks. Descriptive yet to the point answers are expected in this part.
